About Me
The first 8 years of my career, I dedicated myself to teaching science and special education, fostering a deep understanding of these subjects and developing strong educational skills. For the next 7 years, I transitioned to the role of an Educational Diagnostician, honing my ability to assess and support students' learning needs. Subsequently, I spent 13 years as a school counselor, guiding and counseling students in various aspects of their lives, and promoting their personal and academic growth. During the last leg of my career in education, I served as a Student Advisor at the Windham School District, working within the unique environment of Texas prisons, which allowed me to adapt my counseling skills to a diverse and challenging context. I made the decision to retire in May 2024 so that I could pursue mental health counseling.
I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor where I continue to expand my knowledge and expertise in counseling. I conduct virtual and in-person counseling, as well as working as a Mental Health Professional at Jefferson County Correctional Facility. This blend of teaching, counseling, and diagnostic experience demonstrates my dedication to education and support, making me a well-rounded professional in the field.
My education consists of two Bachelor degrees: one in Elementary Education and one in Psychology. I also have three Master of Education degrees with certifications as an Educational Diagnostician, School Counselor, and Principal. I have earned a certification in Mental Health Counseling and I currently hold a license as a Licensed Professional Counselor (#88824). I have completed additional trainings as a Grief Informed Professional and Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional.
